Consumption of non-metallic building materials in January-December 2016 increased by 6.1% compared to the same period in 2015 to 476 million m³. This was facilitated by an increase in the output of non-metallic materials in the Russian Federation over the past months of 2016 by 6.5% to 467 million m³. Imports of non-metallic building materials since the beginning of the year in the Russian Federation decreased by 12.2% compared to the previous year, export - decreased by 26.9%.

Shipment of non-metallic building materials by rail to the Russian market in January-December 2016 increased by 5.8% against the volumes of January-December 2015 to 99.7 million m³. At the same time, domestic deliveries of non-metallic building materials by rail for this period increased by 7.7% to 90.8 million m³; import of nonmetallic materials by rail in the Russian Federation for the analyzed period decreased by 9.9% to 8.9 million m³.

The greatest increase in the volume of railway consumption was registered in the NWFD (an increase of 28% to 11.5 million m3), SFO (+ 11%) and SFD (+ 10%).
